Cayenne Pepper Treatment – Week 3

This week i repeated the cayenne and neem treatment again using the hemp oil. I didn’t pre-poo with the oils overnight like i usually do. I don’t know why exactly, i guess i just couldn’t be bothered and… my hair was oily enough anyway (can you hear the excuse, lol).

This morning i made the paste again using only 1 tablespoon of oil and again applied in sections. I left it on for more than 30 mins i think as i was pre-occupied with other things but i was subconsciously monitoring how my scalp felt.

I shampooed using the Ikove Amazonian avocado and acerola shampoo. I went section by section (as i always do) taking down the twist, rinsing thoroughly making sure the water ran clean before shampooing. I did a double shampoo before applying the conditioner to rinse out as i noticed the foam was quite red. I did this by applying a good amount of shampoo to the section massaging it through until it was nice and frothy. I then squeezed off the excess shampoo and then applied more shampoo onto the section again massaging it through the hair and really making sure the scalp was clean. I squeezed off the excess and then applied a small amount of Herbal Essence Hello Hydration to the hair before rinsing. I then detangled by slopping on my Herbal Essence’s and combing through gently after which i used my Denman to get rid of any shed hairs that may have tangled up in my hair. I repeated this for all sections.

I deep conditioned using Ikove Amazonian avocado and babaçu conditioner, mixed with honey and olive oil. All in all i left this on for about 45 minutes before giving my hair a final rinse with cool water.

My hair wasn’t ‘butter soft’ like it was last week but i’m still super pleased with it. It seems the cayenne, neem and hemp oil mixed with the Indian herbs really made a good combo.

As for the growth stimulating effects of the treatment… I can’t really see any. My hair at the nape is at an awkward stage where it’s quite fluffy so it’s hard to tell whether there is any progress there. Really, i should have taken pics of my nape before and after to compare the end results. That’s a slap on the wrist for me.

Next week will be my last cayenne treatment. I might try the onion juice treatment for the next four weeks after that and document the results. I’ll defo take pics of before and after to really see whether there has been any progress. My next posts will be about the benefits of Neem and also of Onion Juice.

Take Care.

Cayenne Pepper Treatment – Week 2

This week i again did the cayenne and neem treatment i talked about in my previous post.

This time i reduced the amount of oil from 2 tablespoons to 1, again using hemp seed oil. It turned out a great consistency, nice and pasty, not too thin and runny and not too thick. Because of this i was able to use up the full amount and really got to work it into the scalp and especially in the nape area. It really felt good.

This week for my cleanse i did the ayurvedic hair treatment but left out the neem as i already had it in the cayenne and neem paste.

I started off by oiling my hair the night before with olive oil, covering my hair with a plastic bag and my head wrap. In the morning i made up the paste and applied it to my scalp, massaging it in carefully so as not to get it into my eyes. I wrapped up with a plastic bag and left it on whilst i made up the Indian herbs.

Once i had made that up i took off the plastic wrap and applied the paste section by section, wrapping them into bumps as i went along. I left that on whilst i made up my DC using the Ikove conditioner i’ve mentioned earlier and some honey and olive oil.

From start to finish i left on the cayenne treatment for about 30 mins before rinsing my hair. Taking one section at a time i carefully and thoroughly rinsed out my hair making sure that the water ran clear before co-washing. Using Herbal Essences Hello Hydration i washed out the remaining grit and oil, rinsed and applied more to detangle. Once fully detangled i applied some Herbal Essences Beautiful ends, twisted and clipped the section out of the way. I repeated the process for the remaining 3 sections.

WOW. Can you say soooooft? I was gob smacked at how SOFT my hair felt. Not just the ends but my roots were incredibly soft. I cant quit describe it. To date this is the softest it has EVER felt. I hadn’t even DC’d yet. I honestly was contemplating whether to actually DC or not. I went ahead and DC’d anyway because i had already mixed it.

I applied the DC and covered my head with a plastic wrap (bag) and left it on for about an hour and a bit.

I honestly don’t know what made it feel so good. Was it the Hemp oil in the Cayenne and Neem paste that gave my roots that fuzzy woolly feeling? Maybe. Was it the mid-week co-wash i’ve begun to include because of my newly put together exercise regime. Maybe. I dunno. But i’m on a high right now.

As i type this up my scalp is still tingling. Which i believe is a good thing. I’ll continue to do this for the remainder of the

month and document my results at the end.

Natural Hair Loss Remedies… Cayenne Pepper

I’ve been doing some research on natural hair loss remedies and came across the healing, stimulating, restorative powers of the humble cayenne pepper. This i thought was a great solution as it’s so easy to obtain and really inexpensive. There’s no ‘smell’ to deal with at all which is great but it is a bit messy but aren’t they all?

So…

Main Active Ingredient in Cayenne Pepper

Capsaicin is the primary active ingredient found in cayenne pepper. This is the key reason cayenne pepper helps prevent hair loss; capsaicin increases IG-F (insulation growth factors), which help hair growth as a result of stimulating hair follicles.

How Cayenne Pepper Helps Prevent Thinning Hair

Inadequate blood flow to the hair follicles results in weak hair roots. This malnutrition makes hair follicles particularly vulnerable to the effects of DHT. When DHT is attached to the hair follicle it is more likely to kill a hair follicle that is unhealthy due to lack of blood flow. This results in thinner more fragile hair and eventually a cessation of hair production, ultimately leading to baldness.

Cayenne pepper increases blood flow to the scalp, resulting in healthy hair follicles and thus thicker, healthier hair. It also speeds up the process of hair growth.

Cayenne Pepper Recipes for Treating Hair Loss

Create a paste made out of 2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper and 2 tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil. Massage this mixture into the scalp, particularly in areas with thinning hair. Leave on the scalp for 20 to 30 minutes, as long as the scalp doesn’t become overly irritated. Rinse thoroughly and follow up with a good conditioner.

Those who prefer to take cayenne pepper internally may do so by putting 1/8-1/2 teaspoon one cup of liquid such as soup, hot tea, or tomato juice. The amount of cayenne pepper can be increased gradually as tolerance to it builds.

Since cayenne pepper is highly irritating it’s important to keep it away from sensitive skin such as eyes and noses. Hands should be thoroughly washed and dried after handling cayenne pepper to avoid irritation.

I tried this out today but used 1 teaspoon cayenne and 1 teaspoon Neem powder to 2 tablespoons of hemp oil (I thought the essential fatty oil would do great). The neem i will discuss in another post but it’s so good i wanted to get it in there some where. It ended being quite runny and not pasty so i didn’t use up the whole mix. Next time i will use 1 tablespoon of oil so it’s thick and i get the full dosage of herbs in the mix. It was slightly tingly which i thought was a good thing and i was very careful to not get any in my eye area. I left it on for about 1/2 hour and then shampooed. It felt really good. My hair felt really good and my scalp hot and ‘worked on’.

I’ll do this once every week for the next month and note the changes i see and feel in my ‘trouble area’ which is the nape for me.
